Kiss Cosmetics Volumetric Lust Mascara

The KISS Volumetric Lust* is a new mascara which will be available to buy for £9.00 from their website (here) on 11th of June.  It is advertised as a 'lightweight lengthening and volumising mascara' which gives a 'dramatic wide eyed look'.  The Kiss Cosmetics team kindly sent it to me to have a play about with before the release date.

It is packaged in a black plastic tube with a glittery lid which although I want to love, I  just don't.  I am a sucker for plain, simple, chic packaging and this is the complete opposite, but it gets the job done.

The product itself is 'packed with additional nutritional kindness' and is paraben free.  It contains synthetic polymers and hard wax, but all of the ingredients are clearly listed on the tube.  All Kiss Cosmetics products are cruelty free.

The wand was completely different to what I'm used to.  I usually use the thin plastic wands,  but this one is big, conical and bristly.  It reminds me a bit of the Bourjois Clubbing mascaras that I used to use when I was younger.  Because it wasn't what I'm used to when I first applied it the wet formula ended up spread all over my eye lids, but I quickly got used to the large brush.  Although it was a bit of a pain to apply, once it was on it separated and volumized my lashes, and considering it isn't a waterproof formula it held a curl really well.

The most impressive point was the staying power.  In hot weather my super oily skin makes sure pretty much all eye make-up smudges, but this stayed put all day long and didn't flake at all, which is pretty impressive considering the price point.

It was really easy to remove at the end of the day with a bit of the L'Oreal Eye and Lip make-up remover, and didn't irritate or sting my eyes.

This isn't a bad mascara, and if you don't mind the tacky packaging or the large wand it's worth giving a shot, but it's not for me - I'll be sticking to my thin plastic wands I think!  Although the mascaras not for me, there are a few products on their website (here) that I'd love to try out! I love the look of the Scrubstick, the Lip Vinyl in Passionate Peach and the Sheerstick in Fresh Rose.

  1. I know exactly what you mean about the Bourjois Clubbing mascara's - the wand looks exactly the same! I used to use them when I was in school, thinking they were the best mascaras in the world, but looking back now they definitely weren't haha! Great to hear the staying power on this was good though! Great, honest review x
